GH Exclusive Mix: George Heerd

George Heerd hails from Constanta and, for the past few years, has been making a name for himself with his high-quality productions. Despite keeping a low profile, George's work has a strong resonance within the scene because of its meticulous craft and ability to stir the senses.

As George prepares to grace the decks this weekend ahead of Praslesh, his GH Exclusive mix showcases his music selection skills, offering a glimpse into his understanding of electronic music's nuances.

What drives you?

My drive comes from the endless levels to be reached in DJing and producing. Consistency is key to improvement, especially as I become more selective with my music through constant exploration. The same is applied when producing music.

What would you say is your superpower?

I can’t fly, but I can make other people fly (on the dancefloor).

What music are you attracted to? What makes you tick?

I'm drawn to unpredictable sounds. Finding a track that stands out in its uniqueness, regardless of genre, is always a thrilling experience. Hearing something truly exceptional gives me an indescribable feeling.

Any specific genres you’re drawn to?

I have a sweet spot for 90s and early 2000s electronic music for parties, but I also immerse myself in various genres like jazz, classic rock, ambient, and trip-hop for inspiration.

Who inspired you to take this hobby seriously?

Growing up in Constanta, near the iconic La Mania club, I was lucky enough to listen live at a very young age to many artists who showed me different ways and styles of playing music.  From Sasha’s perfect progressive sets to James Zabiela’s insane technique to the memorable [a:rpia:r] closing sets, to name just a few. I knew right away that this is what I want to do as well.

Favorite track ever?

Choosing a favorite track is tough, but "Subway – Thermal" holds a special place in my heart as the first record I added to my Discogs collection.

Tune in for his GH Exclusive Mix and don’t miss out George playing on February 10th.
